Good morning.
It's Miserable Monday and that's all I have to say about that. Here's your Sift...
A- Miami Bike Scene has info on this month's Critical Mass ride and another video of last month's event.
B- Miami, bro runs into Matt Damon at Poplife and tries to get a picture with him, to no avail.
I was aggressively friendly with Matt's friends in order to try and get myself a picture with him, all of whom tried to keep me away. I explained that I lived in Stoughton, my dad's from Brockton, I'm of Mass stock, too. I deserve a shot. Eventually, I realized that all niceties were useless, and I went in for the camera kill and got nothing but the top of his head. I just walked up and took a picture and they all started yelling at me, "this is not a zoo!" or "does this look like a ZOO???!!"C- Mood Vane visits a farmer's market in Broward and clicks off a few images to share with us.
D- The South Florida Traveler samples the offerings at Cero Restaurant in Lauderdale's Ritz-Carlton and says it's pretty good.
I have always been impressed with Cero, ever since I attended a wine tasting event there last year. Sometimes, when you have a great experience at a restaurant, you hesitate in giong back, thinking they can’t top what you experienced the first time. With a new chef, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but let me tell you, my mouth is still salivating with delicious food memories.E- You know all those super dangerous people that are being held at Gitmo? Yeah, well, Discourse comments on a news report that indicates that the hard evidence to justify that claim is now nowhere to be found.

Another glowing example of the former administration's universal incompetence. That noted, the weekend brought news of two former prisoners who were released to a Saudi Arabian rehabilitation program (can you imagine)that have resurfaced with Al Qaeda. It's a genuine problem, not a political football, and so far nobody has concocted a practical solution.
I have run into Matt Damon in the 'hood many times, and he has always been extremely nice, even going out of his way to sign autographs for the waitresses at the bagel place. MB-I'm just some d**che blogger like you, but I really hate it when I am out with my wife (or not) and everyone is taking pictures and then they turn up on Facebook and whatnot. If you are such a fan, why don't you call his agent and ask for an interview or something?
Hey! Thanks for posting about my star sighting. Please look at how many people care so much about how people interact with Matt Damon? It just blows me away; these dudes are seriously passionate about him.
I appreciate the support of people like me, who think I should be able to photograph whomever I please. Sorry if my experience offended any of you (that's sort of a sarcastic sorry). I just gotta do what I do, the way I want to do it. Thanks again, bro!
Oh, and peace in the Middle East.
I dont think its a case of the right to photograph anyone you see. Its a case of dealing with it when those people exercise their right to be irritated by you taking their pic, thats all.
Have to agree with BM. Incidentally, I notice there is no photo of you on your own blog and you are completely anonymous as well. Por quois?
Who are you talking to, Danny? If it's me, no, I'm not completely anonymous. Lots of people know who I am, I just choose not to use a photo here.
.
I have mad photos of me up! Me with other NICE people who let me take pictures with them (like that?). Just look at old blogs. I'm no model, so no need to put my fat face up all over the place.
Why is everyone so hung up on this? Gaza, guys-- important stuff. This-- not important.
Ummmm...not to be a wise guy or anything, but, well, YOU posted it.
Just sayin'.
.
Oy vey! I was just complaining! I didn't know people liked this guy that much. I was just messing around. Oh, well. Lesson learned. Keep acting out/goofing off/bugging people to myself. Thanks again, Rick (honestly). Peace.
Keep up the good stuff, EAT. Enjoying it.
:)
.
hah rick i was talking to EAT
Between this thread and the other thread on MB, I am laughing my a$$ off.
Who would have known Matt Damon would have stirred such passions?
honestly carlos, I don't think this is about Damon-I think what irritates people is other people acting like jerks, be it Damon, MB, or anyone else, and then blithely expecting everyone to care about how they were treated. Everyone can relate to that kind of whining because, well, almost everyone does it.
It's really a stretch to say MB was acting like a "jerk".
Anybody who has spent time in Miami's bars has probably seen their share of people acting like jerks and I just didn't get that vibe from her post.
What people seem not to realize is that Matt Damon is a "public figure". He has less of an expectation of privacy than me or you.
That is actually the way the law recognizes it.
So I doubt MB was the first person who aggressively tried to get his photo nor will she be the last.
Everybody has a camera on them nowadays so Matt Damon is out of touch with reality if he thinks he's going out partying in Miami on a weekend and nobody is going to try to take his photo.
For better or worse, that comes with the territory of being a celebrity. It might get tiresome but it is part of the job.
Of course he has every right to try not to have his photo taken and his friends have every right to protect him from such, but MB has every right to write about her experience.
To me, it's just an everyday experience in the life of a celebrity, so it is kind of mind-boggling to see all these "fans" rush to poor Matt's defense and accuse MB of being out of line.
miami, bro...meet me at the sagamore at 11:30 tonight...I have a little something for you, if you know what I mean.
well carlos we agree-i'm not a fan nor a hater, nor am I saying that anyone was "acting like a jerk"-just that someone may have been-and when some anonymous blogger gets in some dude's face, anybody's face, and they get called out, they certainly have the right to write about it. In fact, this post is really the most interesting of any on this blog-I think that is why people have reacted to it, not because anyone really cares about Matt Damon. And I mean that in the nicest way. MB-when you're nasty, you are at your best. Works for me. Keep up the good work!
Oh, man, bro! I missed my date with Matt Damon's fists at the Sagamore! I'm such a loser, bro.
