Your Mid-Morning Sift

Good morning.

Looks like everyone is starting out slow this morning, including yours truly. Here's your lagging morning Sift...

A- Restaurants are already closing at South Florida casinos? That can't be good. FTL Today has the news.
I just got back from the Isle Casino in Pompano and noticed something interesting. There is now one less restaurant at the casino. Bragozzo's Italian Restaurant is closed.
B- Babalu's Val Prieto courageously saves someone's dog from a Miami-Dade canal and, inexplicably, it's a display of American patriotism. Good story, nonetheless.
As I pulled up I was already taking crap outof my pockets. Wallet and cellphone out. Cigs and lighter out. Cap off, jacket off. By the time I had run to the woman's side I was pullng my sweatet shirt off and ripping my sneakers off. The dog was almost half way belly up. There was no time to call to him.

I jumped into the canal and went after the damned dog.

The woman was crying hysterically now, sobbing over the half dead dog as I handed him over to her.

"He's fourteen years old," she said. "And blind."

I saved a blind, fourteen year old Yorkie from drowning in arctic conditions.

As a sidenote, remember our discussion here yesterday about typos and laziness? Just sayin'.

C- Coconut Grove is starting to look like a country club, according to this photo from Coconut Grove Grapevine.

D- Reidblog links to a couple Huffington Post articles including one describing a move by Bush in the waning days of his presidency to insure that members of his staff never went to jail for crimes committed while he held office.
