I was driving around town today and was kinda in the mood for some Christmas music so I punched up Love 94 and expected to hear the tail end of their Christmas Music Marathon they've been playing since early November. Well, guess what? Love 94 is now 94 MIA or something like that and they're playing dance music. No more smooth jazz in Miami, folks. Their website sort of confirms it. And although most of you probably only knew them for their "elevator music," Stu Grant did a real nice job with the Sunday Jazz Brunch that I will truly miss.
As you might expect, things were kinda light around the SoFla blogosphere today. I only found a few things for your evening Sift...

B- Jeff Eats is mad about Scully's Tavern on Sunset Dr. in Miami-Dade.
Scully’s is an absolute “must try.” Take a look at this joint’s website www.scullystavern.net for menu/prices/deatils. When you check the website, there are a handful of photos that will have you thinking that… this is a neighborhood “run-of-the-mill- pub”…loaded with the standard flat screen tvs and mediocre food. WRONG!!! Okay, its got the tv screens, but the food in this joint is off-the-chart…I am telling you, that many of the dishes that this joint makes, rivals the stuff served in some of South Florida’s top-rated restaurants. Throw in the fact, that the prices are neighborhhod-pub prices and you got a home-run joint.C- Reidblog has Obama's video Christmas message.
D- Tilefortlauderdale released Patsy and Petey at Birch State Park today.
After chatting madly in the Pea Patch time and time again...Petey eventually invited Patsy around to his Pad in P-town for Pasta and Pinot Grigio. That went well, and soon they were a Pair. In the wintertime, they would walk around town in their Parkas and go for Pizza. Sometimes they’d hit a diner to see their server friend Pink Poodles. Occasionally, they’d enjoy a day at the Park or visit the candy store where Petey would get Pecan chocolate chunks and Patsy would get Peppermint chocolate chip ice cream. They took little day trips to other nearby P-towns like Pompano and sometimes all the way to Pahokee. Along the way, they took lots of Photos, whenever they remembered their cameras.

"Jeff Eats" at a lot of dive bars in Miami but Im a fan of Scully's BBQ. They smoke it right in the parking lot. I also enjoy how Jeff uses the same nomenclature as me and designates a restaurant as a "joint". Good stuff.
Never been to Scully's but the best chicken wings are less than a block away at Sports Grill.

WOW about Scully's, I've been to that lil pinkish plaza on Sunset Drive a million times over the years delivering packages to the office a few doors down, and I've always wondered what they got going on in there...Now it seems like I've been missing out :-\
BTW, Rick... Best Jazz station in Miami is 88.9. I love it on my morning and evening commute.
I've been to Scully's once and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, but a word of caution; don't go there if you have to eat and get out by a certain time. The service was polite but leisurely. Next time I go I will be sure not to have to be in an out in under an hour.
That said, the food was great.
i was in the same music mood and discovered the exact same thing... they certainly had enough time to plan the format change...
Our Christmas this year was spent traveling from Miami, FL to Carmel, CA. Left Miami at 2:30 PM Eastern and got to bed in Carmel at 1 AM Pacific (4 AM my time). Crazy. Miami-Houston-San Jose then car from San Jose to Carmel. Very nice here, though. As I type I'm looking out over the porch on a clear blue day in sixty degree weather at the Pacific ocean in the distance. Dinner out and a fire in the fireplace on the strenuous schedule tonight.
