Carlos Miller continued to post some of the more exceptional and interesting posts in the South Florida blogosphere in November but his election night photo essay turned out to be special enough to garner him SFDB Post of the Month honors. In the end, poll voters gave The People Have Spoken a majority of the votes over the other fine nominees.
On a personal note, the image of Miami City Mayor Manny Diaz that is included in Miller's post has got to be one of the more moving that I've seen of any election night coverage. That picture alone, for me, makes the post.
I want thank all of you who participated and took the time to vote in the poll. As always, you can find a list of all of SFDB's Post of the Month winners at the bottom of the right sidebar. And yes, Carlos has 3 this year.
Happy blogging to all!

Good selection, the photo of Mayor Diaz was as you said Rick...Moving! Great photos.
Thanks Rick and thanks Geniusofdespair,
And thanks to everybody who voted for me.
I wish more people would have voted in this contest because I know there are more than twenty-something people who read this blog.
But I guess everybody was vote-weary after last month.
About the Diaz picture: It was right after he made his speech where he had hugged his kids.
People in the room were still celebrating, cheering, yelling and hugging each other.
And the TV news was preparing to interview Diaz. So he was basically just standing in front of the camera waiting for them to set it up.
And I was just standing a few feet from him with my camera hanging on my neck, taking a breather after shooting off a multitude of shots around the room non-stop for about 15 minutes.
And I just caught that look in his eyes and I knew exactly how he felt because I was feeling it. Many people were feeling it.
That feeling of such emotional relief that cheering was just not enough.
That realization that our country was not as regressive as it had been during the previous eight years.
That acknowledgment that not only that yes, we can, but yes, we did.
And I know Diaz was fighting those emotions because he was about to be interviewed on TV.
And I reached up and quickly snapped the photo, knowing I did it too fast which is why it is slightly blurry.
I had the camera on a slower shutter speed in an attempt to catch the motion of waving flags. Under normal circumstances, I would have readjusted the camera but there was no time.
And he looked in my direction and our eyes locked for a second and I just smiled and nodded in understanding, and he did the same.
Then a microphone was shoved in his face and the moment was gone.
I was with Tere the Blogger that night. We were hanging out. After I took that shot, I walked back to the table where she was sitting and she mentioned how the feeling was so overwhelming that it brought tears to her eyes.
And I told her that it had brought tears to Diaz's eyes too.
But I never admitted it brought tears to my eyes as well.
Cool.
Thanks for sharing that, Carlos.

Congrats Carlos Miller!
Those were truly great photos.
