Your Evening Sift

It was a slow Sunday as Sundays go around the SoFla blogosphere. Still, a few things to note for you in your evening Sift...

A- Miami & Beyond explains Obama's idea of "spreading the wealth" so that even little minds can understand.
Basically Obama is saying that plumbers and other small businesses can't prosper (much less profit $250,000) if their customers are hurting financially and can't patronize them. And you know what? It's the goddamn absolute truth, plainly stated and anybody who is not a mindless conservative drone or intellectually dishonest knows that it has nothing to do with Marx or socialism or any such nonsense.
B- All Purpose Dark gets wowed by the New World Symphony.
I've attended Friends of NWS events before where usually a few musicians deliver creatively-imagined and pop culture-referencing pieces in a party setting. This was my first encounter with the full majesty of the orchestra, and it was a revelation.
C- Looks like everyone, including Democrat Annette Taddeo, had a great time at a voting rally in the Grove that was photographed by Coconut Grove Grapevine.

D- The Phin Phanatic gives us his take on today's Dolphin win.
The Miami Dolphins are the epitome of hot and cold football.
E- Volunteering at Fairchild has a question for her readers.
Now, I can't for the life of me figure out why on earth an omnivore that doesn't think twice about buying a carton of eggs from Publix would feel sorry for a chicken that lives the life o' Riley down in Homestead. I met those chickens personally. They're allowed to roam the farm and enjoy a deluxe coop where to lay eggs and rest at night. Why cringe and say "ew" to fresh and organic?

So I'd love to know: would you feel weird about eating fresh eggs? Please comment if you have a moment.

When I was a kid in rural south Louisiana, we had a dozen chickens we'd gotten from a guy who sold eggs for a living. They were past their prime, but they still laid every couple of days or so, so we ate them often, and they were a lot better than what we could get at the store. I buy organic/free range only now, not just because they're better for the chickens, but because they're better tasting.
