SoFla Blogger Predictions We Want To Memorialize

Val "The Cuban-American Thug" Prieto, Babalu, in the comments section:
Ultimately, it's the American Voter that calls the shots and last night's debate, for the first time ever I believe, gave the voter a chance to elect someone into office that isnt part and parcel and beholded to the Beltway political cobweb. That, in and of itself, is gonna go a long way.

Jot this down, folks: McCain/Palin in a landslide victory.

This picture goes so well with that kind of prognostication.

First time ever? Jimmy Carter. Ronald Reagan. Bill Clinton. George W. Bush. None of them held office in DC before being elected.

WTF is he talking about?

There might be "landslide victories" in some states, but nationwide, this is going to be one of the closest and most contested elections in history. It even might make us yearn for the clarity of 2000.

This, from the same guy who announced to the world that "Fidel is dead!" Moron.

I couldn't make it through all the "in and of itself"s, "part and parcel" and "try as they might". I'm surprised he didn't include a "of same" somewhere.

Landslide? Taking bets?

Not sure exactly how accurate or objective FiveThirtyEight is, but I find it worth mentioning that they give a McCain-Palin landslide scenario a 1.07% chance of happening.

And I'd be willing to bet that that's a bit generous. However, Obama is given nearly a one in four chance of pulling it off.

Nate Silver over at Fivethirtyeight is a Democrat, but he's objective when it comes to how he runs his polling aggregates. He's open about what he does, and how he does it, and he's that way because he has a rep outside politics to uphold.

Back during the week of the Republican convention and immediately afterward, when McCain was getting his bounce, Silver didn't hide it, even when it pained a number of his readers, because what he cares most about, ultimately, are the numbers and getting them right. Compare that to Prieto who's basing his claim on I don't know what--the direction the seagulls are flying, the odors emanating from his nether region?

Funny, I looked up "douchebag" in the dictionary and that same picture appeared.
