SFDB Post of the Week

SFDB selects its Post of the Week by going back and reviewing all the Sifts that we've done during the past 7 days. We find the best post of the week and note the runners ups as we judge them to be.

This week was filled with election-related postings. Obama rally posts were numerous as well, as were voting stories. And in the end, those were the ones that [mostly] shined when we looked back at the week.

Winner: I hold Bark Bark Woof Woof's political analysis in high regard but this week it was his story-telling that caught my eye. When you can make standing in a voting line for four hours interesting for your readers you have some talent and Bark Bark Woof did just that in his post I Voted Today. It's a great post that documents the American spirit and for that reason it is this week's SFDB Post of the Week.

Runners-Up: In a post he titled General Powell Speaks, Justice Building Blog had some insightful comments on a recent statement given by Colin Powell about an issue that has been shamefully forgotten by many Americans during this election season if not the last 7 years. Carlos Miller put together a heckuva photo essay of the Obama rally in downtown Miami this week in a post called, appropriately enough, Barack Obama Visits Miami. In Rally At Miami's Own Scranton, PA, which I'm embarrassed to say I have no clue as to its meaning, Volando Vengo, Volando Voy provides not only some great shots of the Obama rally but some heartfelt commentary that's worth the read. And, finally, the horribly named More Blog About Buildings and Food does its best Critical Miami imitation and lays down a nice photo expose of the October Arthop in a post called Arthop, Miami, October '08.

'Till next time, people, keep on blogging!

Thanks Rick! ... Doin' my best.

Re 'horribly named,' a little 'physician heal thyself' might be in order, but in general I'm very thrilled with your support.

Miami's own Scranton,PA is our very own Bicentennial Park-- a "hello-hole" by any means. It's all in reference to the SNL skit where Joe Biden starts talking about hard scrabble Scranton. I thought it was hilarious and appropiate. Cheers.

Thank you, Rick; I am humbled by your selection and I am grateful for your kind words. I hope my experience doesn't deter anyone from voting; after what this country has been through, four hours is nothing.
