Your Evening Sift

Busy Hump Day in the South Florida blogosphere. Here are the highlights...

A- SoFla political blogs Bark Bark Woof Woof, Smashed Frog and Reidblog comment on John McCain's attempt to back out of Friday's debate.

B- babalu's George "Can't Write a Sentence That Doesn't Include a 4 Letter Word" Moneo is shocked, shocked I tell you, that the Left is talking trash about Sarah Palin.
Folks, I'm stupefied at this kind of language being vomited out by the left.

Actually, George, you've been "stupefied" for quite some time now, and I'm sure you read Mike Pancier's daily rants that use vulgar language to vilify his fellow Americans every day of the week on babalu, so please, stop with the whining and the faux outrage and grow a couple, dude.

C- All Purpose Dark gives us an idea of what a unique place Blue Sea at The Delano is.
The "dining room" is essentially one long marble communal high-top table that juts out into the swanky lobby. This makes for fantastic people watching as you ogle the parade of tourists and party goers who glide into the hotel on a nightly basis.

D- Miami & Beyond goes on hiatus.
It's a combination of being too busy to dedicate time to blogging and a realization that I have to use my time wisely until November. In the past two presidential elections I volunteered time to the local Democratic campaigns. This time, except for helping the Joe Garcia campaign with my graphic design skills, I'm doing little and I realized it's because I'm spending a significant part of my free time to argue with the converted, not here but in other forums. So instead I'm going to focus on where I can make a little difference.

E- Random Pixels tracks down former WPLG reporter Rad Berky in North Carolina.
Random Pixels has tracked Rad down. He's working at WCNC in Charlotte, NC. One Miami TV veteran said after watching this video that he was the "same old solid Rad." I agree.

I reached him by phone at about 3:30 this afternoon. He told me that "we have a 4pm newscast here," before hanging up.

F- More Blogs About Buildings and Food posts a slideshow from Lion Country Safari.

G- Foodtastic visits Sardinia Enoteca on Miami Beach and samples their Miami Spice menu.
All in all, although there were some “hits”, there seemed to be more “misses” – this is one Miami Spice participating restaurant to which we won’t be returning.

H- Man or Maniac discusses honest Republicans and convinces me that there may be a few out there.
But no, I am actually going to tell you about something that many liberals insist doesn't exist: honest Republicans.

An Honest Republican is one who reviews all the facts, adds them all up, and accepts the conclusions even when they go against their personal beliefs.

I think Lincoln Chaffee was an honest Republicans--I say was because he re-registered as an independent earlier this year. And while I disagree with him on a lot of things, I think Chuck Hagel is reasonably honest as politicians go.

Its only appropriate that feeble-minded simpletons like Moneo and Toughguy Cigar Mike love Palin. They are so easily amused, like children watching a clown make animals out of balloons.
