Hypocrites R Us

So when do you think that the Republicans who brayed about John Edward's $400 haircut are going to chat this little gem up?
John McCain, whose ads skewer Barack Obama for his "celebrity" status, has his own close ties to show business, the new issue of Us Weekly reports exclusively.

The 72-year-old was recently made TV-ready by makeup artist Tifanie White who's worked on So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol.

McCain paid the 2002 beauty-school grad $5,583.43 for her services, according to the Federal Election Commission.

My bets are on "Never."

Ok, lets see, these reports usually cover expenses every quarter. 90 days = about 12.9 weeks. So that averages about $430 a week. Lets say you make campaign & TV appearances 5 days out of 7, so that means $86 dollars a day. Not to shabby in this age of television for an old bastard who needs all the help he needs to look alive.

Rick, as your resident Limbaugh defender I was wondering why you never brought up Obama's race baiting ad from last week?

Nice Job Gabe!

Gabe: Sorry, correcting distortions about an avowed racist is not what I'm going to spend my time on here. Next you're going to want me to correct misleading remarks about David Duke. Ain't going to happen.

Anon: Yeah, you're right on it. Boy, my face is so red.

Here we go again, when someone doesn't agree politically with the "Black Establishment" or the victimization industry they are racist. You probably agree that Clarence Thomas, Condi, Collin Powell, Michael Steele, and Thomas Sowell are traitors to their race. But I digress, lets not get stuck on Limbaugh lets focus on his ad. I'm still waiting for the campaign of hope and change I was promised.

I know my GOP is not clean when it comes to campaigning, but the point I'm trying to make is the other side is no better. Can't we all agree on that?

No, Gabe, LET'S focus on Limbaugh for a minute. Because a minute might be all that's needed to keep you from defending this racist bigot in the future. This guy deserves anything he gets. Including, someone distorting or taking out of context things that he has actually said in the past.

He's as disgustingly racist as they come and many, many Republicans apparently look up to him for it.

What makes a racist? Half the man's studio staff is black, and they have been with him for many years. The man was married by his long time friend Clarence Thomas (Black Man last time I checked). So he surrounds himself with black people as his colleagues, carries on personal relationships with black people. They don't consider him a racist yet you do, interesting. I know I surround myself with people I hate.

"He deserves anything he gets" you say, how honorable. If you had faith in your point of view why not counter his based on the merits? What is the point of trying to dismiss someone with a false accusation if you claim to have truth on your side? How does that benefit your argument.

I hate those people who talk smack about Obama using racial crap or just plain B.S. because there is enough legitimate material to not need to denigrate my cause with b.s. even though you claim to be on my side. I don't want my side cheapened with that garbage and you shouldn't want your side sullied with b.s. race baiting.

Someone let me know if anyone changes their mind about any issue after all this! No wait, I already know the answer.

Gabe,

Interestingly, many plantation owners in the South had Black "employees" too.

I guess they weren't racist either.

anon above,
Do the people in Limbaugh's studio pick cotton while getting whoopins' from him?

I love how Libs bring down minorites in order to advance thier cause

Not sure how I bring anyone down by noting the lack of correlation between employment demographics and level of racism.

But hey, it's your contention. I'd love to see the data. Show us!

Gabe: Did you bother to follow the link that I provided you in the comment to all the racist statements Limbaugh has made in the past? Or are you just choosing to ignore them?

.

Gabriel said...

Rick: I did indeed followed them and I must admit when I saw they were from Media Matters I stopped caring. I'm not saying Limbaugh hasn't made bad jokes in 20 years of broadcasting, but when a Liberal commentator or Liberal politician make one no one calls them a racist. Limbaugh is called a racist by people like you who reflexively think a conservative must be racist if he doesn't agree with the NAACP or Jessee Jackson. His jokes are one thing but his passion to see those minority people elevated through hard work in this country and how he lives his life convince me he's no racist. Instead I see people take the easy and cheap way out when it comes to conservatives views on racial issues.

In kind, are you ignoring the points I made in my last posts 3 paragraphs? Why did Obama put out that ad so obviously false after he has claimed to be a new kind of candidate? Are you excusing it?

Yes. Yes. And yes.

Number one, because although you're choosing to ignore actual racist quotes from Rush because Media Matters noted them, Limbaugh is a racist and I refuse to condemn any attacks against racists.

Number two, as I've said here before, Democrats need to stop playing fair. Period. It gets them trampled on, mocked and beat in elections. They have to resort to tactics that Republicans have traditionally used even if that means distorting facts, quotes and figures and beat them at their own game.

Most importantly, when Republicans are whining and complaining and acting like they have this past week, Dems have to keep hitting them, keep kicking them and not let up until November 5th.

So complain all you want, Gabe. It isn't going to stop.

Sorry Gabe, there is NO WAY that makeup artist was paid $86/day. The total amount she was paid was likely for a week's worth of work or less.

i work in the tv biz and a makeup artist is around $500/day. now, if there were travel costs involved and multiple nights (hotel costs) this 5500 bill is very realistic...depending, of course, on time frame.

without knowledge as to the specific number of days involved, this just can't be judged.

Ever heard of the term "self-loathing" or the concept of "you're not like the rest of them"? Because both are at play here when it comes to Limbaugh and the people he surrounds himself with.

Limbaugh has a history of rolling around in racial slurs that predates the Obama campaign by a long way, and he likes to trot out his employees and Clarence Thomas in the same way Stephen Colbert trots out his black friend--only difference is that for Colbert, it's a gag and Colbert is portraying a character.
