What Happened To Miami Art Blogging? [UPDATED]

Yesterday, SFDB received a request from a representative of the Knight Foundation to help identify any local art blogs that might be able to help them out...

We need feedback on what people think we should fund as far as Miami arts, and I’m trying to figure out which Miami art bloggers I should contact.

The rep acknowledged that Critical Miami was belly up [would have been my first choice, too...RIP, CM] but wanted to know if I had any other ideas.

Sure, I thought. There's The Next Few Hours. Oops, nope. On hiatus. Okay, so there's Miami Provocateur. Kinda sorta artsy. Actually I thought, for some reason, that they had gone on hiatus, too. What about Wormhole Laboratory? Oops, nope. Dead. Hey, there's the Miami Art Exchange blog, right? Umm, no.

What the heck? Has art blogging in South Florida dried up or what?

Anyone who has any art blog recommendations or has any ideas that might help out the Knight Foundation, go ahead and put them in the comments. They're reading and will certainly take note.

The scene in Miami loses steam in the hot summer months and picks up in the winter especially in anticipation of Basel.

yeah, for now it's Tom the Art Lurker. Also, go to Brosia Tuesday happy-hour for 'theory talk' whatever that means.
Swampstyle takes notice, more local art scene posts to follow.

Thanks very much, Rick. We put a video up about the Knight Arts Partnership (http://knightarts.org) on our annual report site: http://progressreport.knightfoundation.org/2007/stories_of_transformation/detail.dot?id=328830

I'll keep reading here, and we also opened comments there. Look forward to hearing feedback, and I'll definitely look at the blogs listed above (thanks, everyone)--

Did anyone get any shots or footage from the reFLEXions event that went down in the Design District on Saturday night? I was there and it was pretty cool. Killer band played at the Moore Bldg for the after party too.

I know there was a group trying to start something up for the arts in Palm Beach County. http://artsblogfl.wordpress.com/

It's also kind of stagnated it looks like because they need more time and resources.

Mind, the band at the flex car party was AfroBeta, and they kick kappa...
so did my FordFlexFossil.

Yes, AfroBeta was the name. Cool band and the singer was sexy and rocked and it was raw and real. Thats a rarity in Miami. My friend made the blue people piece.

Although arriving late to this thread, Miamiartexchange does indeed have an art blog and a full web site. I have posted links to the relocated blog since the day it went live. All known links on Miamiartexchange.com have been linked to the relocated blog. We also have a Myspace, Facebook, Twitter and am connected to various social media site as well. Thank you again.
