SFDB Post of the Week

SFDB selects its Post of the Week by going back and reviewing all the Sifts that we've done during the past 7 days. We find the best post of the week and note the runners ups as we judge them to be.

There are very few Sundays here at SFDB where I'm not impressed by the blog posts of the previous week. I can count on one hand the number of times since we started doing this in February where it's been easy to select the Post of the Week. This week was no exception.

Winner: We don't have many any other 16-year-olds like Abel in the SoFla blogosphere. His perspective on Miami politics and social issues belies his age as does his writing at Stuck in Hialeah. Homeless Heartbreak is the kind of post that makes you want to help and get involved in a problem that is so ridiculously solvable, it's almost criminal that society won't do more. Abel's writing does a fine job in conveying those thoughts and that's why it's this week's SFDB Post of the Week.

Runners Ups: Sex and the Beach writes about the decidedly unsexy sport of fishing in the Everglades but does a fine job in Nature Girl: Fishing of making it sound romantic, in a natural kind of way. Transit Miami interviewed a Miami resident about her bicycle commute to work in Commuter Profile: Ellen Haas and came up with story that should be serve as an inspiration to all of us. And finally, in Mar Abierto, Vivir el Presente shares with us her love of South Florida and expresses her concerns that we all do our part to preserve it's beauty for future generations.

Keep on blogging!

excellent choice.
Abel's a very good writer, especially considering his age. I'll need to pay more attention to his blog.

Thanks, Rick. I hadn't thought about my post that way :-)

Abel writes beautifully. It's thrilling to think of his potential!
