We Should All Be So Proud

The City of Miami went all out to impress the mayors who attended last weekend's U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The apostrophe has been dying for a long time. Alas. But I can say from having spent a lot of time in the German language, they just add an S to show possessive in many cases, and everyone figures out what it means.

Might they mean "Mayors from the Americas" ?

"Mayors from the Americas" might have been one intended meaning, since mayors from foreign cities in this hemisphere had met before the US mayors' conference. Whew, snuck in that apostrophe.
