Annette Taddeo Has Passion (UPDATE X3)

Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion.

- Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

I just got back from Annette Taddeo's campaign headquarters in Pinecrest after attending a little get together she hosted for a few of us local bloggers. It was a short but revealing back and forth between Ms. Taddeo and the attendees that I'll leave to Bark Bark Woof Woof, Incertus, and/or Miami-Dade Dems to expand on and discuss at their respective haunts.

But I did want to mention one thing here. In this day and age of soulless and discouraging politics where politicians choose to sell themselves out to lobbyists and the will of the politically powerful rather than speak for the majority of their constituents that they are supposed to represent, it was refreshing to see a candidate wanting to represent the people. But what was most gratifying and impressive to observe was Ms. Taddeo's passion and zeal for a job that she feels an obligation to do not for herself, but for the people that she wants to represent in Washington. The people of District 18. All of them. You can see it in her eyes, you can hear it in her voice.

She is still defining her positions on issues and she's still accruing a war chest, which, by the way, you can help her out with here, but if you believe Georg Hegel, and I certainly do, Annette Taddeo is well on her way to victory.

This, along with Taddeo's recent post on The Daily Kos, can undoubtedly do nothing but help her chances...

And the Marlins have a real chance of winning the NL East this season.

Well...at least the latter is somewhat possible.

There could be nothing that would make me happier than to see your smug self eat your words in November. Keep being complacent, Robert. I just love that strategy.

Robert,

Taddeo is ahead of the game by recognizing the huge opportunity for exposure through the blogosphere.

The one difference between the blogs and say, the Miami Herald, is that the blogs don't delete their entries within a week after posting them.

Come November when people really start paying attention, they're going to be doing a lot of Googling.

And guess whose name is going to pop up more than Ileana what's her name?

Taddeo is the perfect candidate for Miami.

Being the product of a Colombian mother and an American father (there are a few of us around), she can represent Miami as a whole, instead of just Miami's Cuban population, which is what the three incumbents have been doing for years.

This election is not going to be about Castro, it's going to be about turning Miami into a city in which we can all prosper.

And even if some voters insist on playing the culture card, keep in mind that Colombians are the second largest Hispanic group in South Florida.

And trust me, they've been waiting to get one of their own into Congress for a long time.

And if you want to compare her to the Marlins, compare her to the 2003 Marlins when they went up against the big, bad Yankees and won in six games.

I regret not going to the function, but I had other things come up. I hope they have another one soon.

Carlos,

I love the Republican strategy: sit back and assume Illeana is a shoe in. I hope they continue that strategy right through November.

Works for me.

I am predicting that there is going to be a sweep against the three right-wing Cuban exile Congress people.

Just check out the results from 2006 when the republican trio ran against three unknowns who were outspent 20 to 1, 58 to 1 and 19 to 1.

http://www.politicalgateway.com/cand.php?id=682

Those democratic campaigns were not very organized and unified and they were battling a well-oiled political machine.

And still, the challengers were able to earn 37.9, 40.5 and 41.5 percent of the votes.

This time, the democrats are very much organized and are going to trounce the republican incumbents.

To use a sports analogy, this is like when the Dallas Cowboys built a team in the early 1990s to specifically beat the SF 49ers.

This trio of democrats was created to specifically beat the trio of republicans.

What the republican trio has not acknowledge is that there are many Cuban exiles and Cuban Americans who are sick of them already.

They might want Castro to fall, but their priority is to be able to afford a home in South Florida, and that is not happening.

It's going to get very exciting in the upcoming months.

Careful with predictions that use words like trounce, Carlos. That's actually good advice for both sides. All these races will be tighter than expected, and one or two incumbents may fall. But a sweep would be such a triumph against the reality of how hard it is to beat an incumbent, that to even mention it will surely keep it from happening.

Incumbents yeah, and yet their negatives are through the roof. New polls coming out soon.

And Robert, when trolling, don't use a hook bigger than the worm.

Alex,

For God's sakes, don't stifle these folks. Let them sit there all fat and happy, banking on their candidates years of doing nothing but yelling at opportune times, "Castro sucks!" Let them think that this year is the same as all the ones before.

That all may be enough for the ideologically entrenched in their community, but as they're going to get taught real quick here in a few months, most folks in the community want to move forward and not remain mired in policies and politicians that have never worked or out and out failed to deliver.

So, yeah, I like their attitudes. They have it all sewn up. No need to be concerned. It's brilliant. Let's give them some credit.

I finally got some stuff together and put up a post referencing our meeting with Annette. On my home blog ww.miami-dade-dems.blogspot.com, with a photo and a video. And on DailyKos. Great to meet you gentlemen.
