Your Evening Sift

A rainy, dreary Saturday afternoon in South Florida, perfect for some excellent blogging. I present to you the Evening Sift...

***New Blogs Alert***

We have a few of them to tell you about so settle in.

[redacted]: All Purpose Dark says that Dan, [redacted]'s author, has recently relocated to South Beach from New York City with his girlfriend and dog. It looks like the blog has been around since late 2006, so Dan's not exactly a new comer to the blogosphere. He has already weighed in on Cuban coffee so it looks like he's settling into the South Florida lifestyle.

the (covert) overt: Also brought to light by APD, the (covert) overt is a new blog written by Da Lizza who describes it as:
an insider's guide to all the places in miami you should know about miami... but don't. i am single-handedly stuffing as much culture + art + music + food as i can find the time for. covering everything from downtown miami, wynwood, design district, buena vista, little haiti, and into the upper eastside. i'll be your guide for this adventure, sit back and enjoy the ride.

The Chowfather: The last of the blogs uncovered by APD, The Chowfather is a foodie blog that looks like it was just started yesterday.

Mayor's Blog: Miami Mayor Manny Diaz has a blog.
This is my new blog where I can keep you up to date on all the things happening in the City, along with my thoughts and observations on life as Mayor. We just finished an exciting week where we hosted the PODER Philanthropy Forum focusing on the business of giving. Our City Commission also approved installing solar panels at City Hall, making this historic building more energy efficient. Stay tuned as we continue blogging...

Mayor Diaz has been at it since March 13th and I have to say that while the content is somewhat weak, at least he's posting on a regular basis. Thanks to Transit Miami for the tip.

Which leads me to...

***Retired Blogs***

The following blogs have been retired from the SFDB blogroll due to inactivity: Boom or Bust Miami, A Grand Illusion and Anonymous Dolphan. I am continuing to monitor these blogs and if they ever start posting again, you'll see them appear on the blogroll located in the right sidebar.

On to the more significant posts of the day...

A- The Linchpen YouTubes an interview with the Miami Herald's former general counsel who provides a few legal tips for bloggers.

B- Computer Colonics provides us a couple YouTube videos of the almost completed road construction between Florida City and Key Largo. You gotta love that aqua marine Jersey barricade.

C- Discourse has the new logo just created for the McCain campaign.

D- Coconut Grove Grapevine continues his insistent monitoring of the new information booths in the Grove.

E- Some Cranky Guy offers some photos taken on a wet Saturday.

F- FTL Today visits Butterfly World in Coconut Creek and comes away with a bunch of photos.

Well if I don't monitor the booths, who will?

Its one thing to complain about the booths in the Grove. Its another thing to be a nuisance and degrade those who have been designated to work inside them.

Rick,

This is great stuff. Somehow, I've only now stumbled on the this treasure trove of SFL bloggers. Where have I been? No clue...better late than never.

Anyway, I'm thankful to Google Reader making the subscription recommendation for your blog.
