Florida City's New Starbucks

On my way down to Robert is Here this morning (see my Flickr), I stopped in the new Starbucks in Florida City (opened December '07) and checked things out. It was a busy mid-morning and there was a nice line of people both placing orders and waiting for their coffee to be served. It looks like it's going to be a good location for Starbucks.

But they do need to seriously reconsider their parking situation. As it stands now, the lot is set up so that you drive in one place, the go around the building and exit out another driveway to SW 344th Street. Unfortunately, if there is any line whatsoever in the drive-thru, the exit lane is blocked and you have to go back out through the entrance. This, naturally, gets you all sorts of dirty looks and more from the folks who are just pulling in and have no idea what is going on.

Seriously FUBAR, but the building looks good and the coffee is Starbucks.

Hey Rick--How was the market? Would you recommend it?

My expectations were fairly high based upon some of the reviews I have read about the place and I suppose I expected a little more but, yeah, I think it's worth the drive, particularly if you live in Miami-Dade. They also had a wide assortment of jams, jellies and sauces that I photographed but didn't like the quality of the shots and didn't upload them into Flickr.

The milkshake is a bonus, too, if you're into that sort of thing.

I observed a number of people, presumably locals, loading up boxes of vegetables and fruits that obviously represented their week's purchase, so I think it has quite the loyal following, which is always a good thing.

I purchased some Honeybells that are huge and absolutely delicious and nothing like the junk you can run into at Publix. And I just got done steaming some of the green pepper that I picked up and it is killer.

The selection may not have been totally what I expected but the quality of what you get there is top notch.

I went to Knauss Berry Farm on Saturday for some good-old-fashioned-alcohol-free fun... realy, I went to sweat out a hangover.

I picked Strawberries. And I got a milkshake. And a dozen cinnamon rolls, a loaf of bread and a thing of dinner rolls.

Mmmm. Strawberries and carbs.

best mamay shake in the world at Robert's .. a must stop on the way to the glades...except during tourist season, the line is out the door esp. on weekends.

that starbucks has a drive through so you can get your java without getting out of your car on the way to the glades

(or the prison if that is your bag)
