A- Sun-Sentinel: South Florida is #1 nationally in self-employment.
B- Herald: The guy that caused a security scare at MIA last week is a well-known party promoter who was "staying at the Delano, spending lavishly" before his arrest.
C- Herald: A couple days old, but the Herald and the Sun-Senitinel are delivering each others newspapers.
D- Sun-Sentinel: Letter to the editor writer, Brian Leonard, gets it right.
E- Herald: Photo slideshow of yesterday's blackout.
F- Herald: Florida schools are taking it in the gut when it comes to a new budget.
G- Sun-Sentinel: Police taser fighting students at Broward high school.
H- Palm Beach Post: West Palm Beach cop breaks into his ex-girlfriend's home, gets busted and says, "My career is over." Yep.

Schools will lose $500M and the new Marlins stadium that is doomed to fail costs $500M. As the greatly corny C&C Music Factory once said, "Things that make you go hmmm...."
BM: well, if you listen to some conservatives, that money would have never been spent on education anyway so why not pour it into a new stadium.

Rick, I'd like to see a liberal try the accounting and legal gymnastics necessary to ever get that money from the "stadium" pot to the "education" pot. Picture little pink sprained ankles...

Nonee, it's a simple legislative gymnastic: remove the barriers for tourist taxes being earmarked only for projects that supposedly attract tourists. Presto.
When the Marlins and county officials say the money can't be used for schools they are right BUT they don't say why.

Its just foolish to spend lavishly on 2 total wastes of space and then bitch about schools being in financial trouble. Im a firm believer that schools could probably budget better but why should they always have to take it in the ass? Fuck the Marlins. They suck and have the shittiest fan base in the world. Miami doesnt deserve 1 sports team let alone 4. The PAC should be renamed the POS as in Piece Of Shit seeing that its a total abortion. It really has nothing to do with "political parties" so there's no point bringing that into the conversation. All the conversation about "keeping things Republican or Democrat" lately has been creepy. Politics suck.
Alex- Using simple and legislative so close together in the same sentence? That immediately conjures retorts with words like aunt and balls being used close together in the same sentence. But it could be that simple. I guess.

I don't disagree with you that, as a general matter, the notion that we can spend a half-bil on a stadium while kids languish in schools ill-equipped and ill-prepared defies logic. But then, we live in a world where people pay $4K for Hannah Montana tix, when Citizen Dan tix can be had for a paltry $50.
But you know what should really chafe your ass?
The stadium doesn't have to take the FCAT.
Bottom line is that our city and its government have their own agendas and #1 on the list is fucking the working public while funneling rewards into their own pockets. It really makes me angry to know that Im repeatedly getting ass raped by city officials. Im a firm believer in the fact that people will take advantage of you until they get their ass kicked. Then they will think about changing their ways. One of these days, these city officials are going to get a solid ass kicking.
The gymnastics is simple. That the aunts in the legislature don't have the balls to perform it, that's a different matter.
